Epic Train Trestle Canyon Expedition with 4 Crazy Women

I recently took 4 co-workers to one of San Diego’s most awesome and elusive destinations.  This 16 mile round trip expedition is no joke.  We had to bypass locked train tunnels and hike around epic cliffs.  We joked about it being similar to the pass (Redhorn Pass) in the Lord of the Rings!  The views were amazing.

Redhorn Pass

It was classic desert weather for this time of year so we were at least all comfortable.  I’ve been out to this canyon when it’s brrrrrrrrrr…cold and even snowing!  It took us 3 hours to reach our destination…..the Goat canyon Trestle.  Here we launched the drone and took some amazing pic’s.  Some of the braver ladies even ventured out beneath the bridge onto the maintenance platform!

Here we enjoyed our lunch and then made out trek back to the starting point.  Total tour time was 7 hours.  We had no incidents and no injuries………successful tour!  I made this video for them because of the great tip the laid on me!  Thanks ladies!

I can’t wait to take my next tour out to the trestle.  These days it is a lot harder to get to as there have been multiple tunnel avalanches…..plus the railroad authority seems to be posting trespassing signs on the tunnels so having a guide who can navigate you around the tunnels and through the deserts is a major bonus.
